Tier 1 — Residential

Residential Heat Tape

Fixed-wattage ice dam protection for standard Utah homes. Affordable, reliable, and professionally installed on roofs and gutter runs.

About This Tier

Straightforward Protection at the Right Price

Residential heat tape uses a fixed-wattage heating element that outputs the same wattage regardless of ambient temperature. It's the most cost-effective entry point for ice dam prevention — ideal for homes with simple, straight gutter runs, single-story eaves, and manageable winter conditions.

Because the output doesn't adjust automatically, a thermostat or manual timer is required to prevent the tape from running when it isn't needed. We install a quality outdoor thermostat as part of the system. When temperatures drop below freezing and conditions are right for ice dam formation, the thermostat activates the tape and keeps your gutters draining.

If your home has a more complex roofline, longer runs, north-facing exposures, or you prefer a truly set-and-forget system, consider our Mid-Grade Self-Regulating or Commercial tiers.

What You Get

Residential Heat Tape Benefits

Most Affordable Entry Point

Lower material cost per foot makes residential tape the right choice when budget is the primary factor and your roofline doesn't demand more.

Proven, Simple Technology

Fixed-wattage heat cable has been in use for decades. No complex polymer core — straightforward resistive heating that's easy to diagnose and replace when needed.

Ideal for Standard Homes

City or bench homes, straight gutter runs, and moderate snowfall areas are exactly where residential tape performs well without over-engineering the solution.
